The DVF Decision Matrix

Helping you to select a test market or customer segment

What's this for?

Use this tool to make a decision on a test market or target audience.

By taking into account dimensions in Desirability, Viability, and Feasibility, and also capturing data from sources such as desk research, keyword & trend analysis, validation experiments, and internal team surveys, the Decision Matrix gives a holistic approach to your decision-making.

How it works

Step 1

Gather all the data you have collected up until now in your project.

Step 2

Determine the metrics you wish to use for the Decision Matrix. Divide them into Desirability, Viability, and Feasibility.

Step 3

Identify where you still have gaps in your Matrix.
Decide where you will use assumptions, run internal team surveys and run additional experiments.

Step 4

Update the matrix with all the data and align with your team on which metrics get assigned more weight than the others.

Step 5

Get a recommendation on which test market or customer segment you should pursue.

Step 6

Keep updating the matrix with updated data, and keep adding metrics and variables as you go.
